Tiger Woods Has 1 Word Message About Playing the Masters This Year

Less than a year removed from a devastating Achilles injury, golf legend Tiger Woods has not ruled out the possibility of playing in golf's most iconic tournament.

In March of last year, Woods suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon that has kept him sidelined from competitive golf ever since. However, less than two months away from the Masters, it sounds like the golf legend has not ruled out the possibility of a comeback.

Woods suffered an Achilles Injury

Back on March 11 of last year, Woods announced that he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon while practicing at his home.

“As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured,” he announced on social media.

“This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken of Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida performed a minimally-invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon.”

This came after the golf legend underwent multiple surgeries during the offseason and was trying to get back on the golf course after not playing competitively since the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon, where he missed the cut.

Woods Has 1 Word on the Masters

While Woods has now been sidelined for multiple years, he has a chance to return in time to play in the Masters.

Last week, Woods was asked if playing the Masters, which begins on April 9, was off the table for him, given his recovery.

Woods responded with one simple word: "No."

While Woods suffered the Achilles injury about a year ago, he says that injury is no longer holding him back. However, he is still working his way back from a disk replacement surgery in October. He has no timetable for a return, but he claims he's trying.

“Well, I’m trying — put it that way,” he said, via the Associated Press, adding that he can hit full shots but not every day “and not very well.”

Woods has a history of battling through injuries, but he acknowledges that it's even more of a challenge at 50 years old.

“It’s probably going to take me a little bit longer,” Woods said. “My body has been through a lot,” Woods said. “Each and every day, I keep trying, I keep progressing, I keep working on it, trying to get stronger, trying to get more endurance in this body and trying to get it at a level at which I can play at the highest level again.”

Woods, a five-time Masters champion, last played in the iconic tournament back in 2024 when he made the cut for a record 24th time in a row.
