A Prayer To Ask God To Remove What Isn’t Aligned
Finding peace starts with surrendering our worries to the universe and trusting that God’s guidance will meet us in the middle of our uncertainty. Best-selling author of Finding God Every Day, Rebecca Simon, reminds us to trust God’s timing, embrace patience, and lean on His presence through every season of life.
It’s the hardest prayer to pray — the one where you ask for the things you love to be taken away if they aren’t meant for you. We spend so much time white-knuckling our way through life, holding onto people and versions of ourselves that we’ve long since outgrown, simply because we’re afraid of the empty space they will leave behind. But there is a deep, quiet mercy in the “no.” There is a profound kind of protection in the doors that won’t open, no matter how hard you kick them.

You have to trust that if God is removing something, it’s because he is clearing the noise so you can finally hear the truth. You aren’t being emptied just to be empty; you are being prepared to receive something that doesn’t require you to shrink, beg, or compromise your peace in order to keep it. It takes a different kind of strength to stop chasing what was never yours and to start attracting what has always been. Let the misaligned things go. Trust the clearing. You are making room for a life that actually fits the person you have become.

God,
As I move into this new season, I ask you to clear away what was never meant to stay in my life. You see the things I’ve been holding onto out of fear, or habit, or comfort. You know the relationships, the opportunities, and the patterns that no longer align with who I am becoming. I place them all in your hands.
If something is not from you, don’t let it follow me into what is next. Remove what drains me, expose what isn’t honest, and release me from anything that keeps me small. Give me the courage to let go of what I once prayed for if it is no longer part of your plan.

Make space in my life for what carries your peace, God. Align me with the people who speak life into me, the doors that move me forward, and the places where my spirit can finally rest. Help me trust that when you take something away, it is never to harm me – it is to protect me, redirect me, and prepare me.
I’m ready for what is aligned with your purpose.
Amen.
