Green Party says ‘primary school children’ should be taught to take drugs safely

Up Next

The Green Party has called for primary school children to be taught how to safely consume drugs.

In their newly revealed policy proposals, the party, led by Zack Polanski, wants to legalise crack cocaine, heroin and date-rape drug GHB for recreational use.

They also want to create a ‘direct partnership’ between South American cartels to introduce a sustainable supply in the UK.

The policy also adds children ‘starting in primary school’ should be taught how to take drugs in Personal, Social and Health Education lessons, the Daily Mail reports.

It reads: ‘The Green Party recognises that in the majority of cases the limited use of drugs for recreational purposes is not harmful and has the potential to enhance human relationships and human creativity.’

But Labour has accused Polanski of wanting to turn ‘children’s playgrounds into crack dens’.

Crime and Policing Minister Sarah Jones said: ‘Let’s be clear about what that would mean: Lives shattered, anti-social behaviour through the roof, and public drug use running rife. It’s deeply irresponsible to even suggest this.’

But Polanski replied: ‘If Labour cared about people as much as they did smearing political opponents, they would back Greens’ call for a national commission on drugs to see how we can reduce the harm drugs cause.’

The Green Party has also proposed some less controversial measures to tackle the UK’s drug crisis, increasing funding for drug-treatment centres.

And in Greater Manchester, residents are responding positively to the ideas as they prepare to vote in the by-election next week.

Labour is polled to finish third in the Gorton and Denton by-election, behind the Green Party and Reform UK.

Some 22% of the constituency said they will vote Green, 20% Reform and 18% Labour, according to the Omnisis poll.
