Father of two remanded suspects arrested over Limassol attempted murder
A 56-year-old man wanted in connection with an attempted murder in Limassol is due to appear before the Limassol criminal court on Monday.
The suspect, who is the father of two men aged 30 and 20 already in custody over the case, was located and arrested on Sunday in central Limassol.
The attempted murder took place on the afternoon of December 20, 2025, when a 36-year-old man was attacked while at a cafe on Anexartisias Street.
According to witness accounts, the victim was first assaulted with taser-like devices and then stabbed.
The perpetrators fled the scene, while the victim was taken to hospital, where doctors found he had sustained a wound to his left shoulder blade.
As part of the police investigation, arrest warrants were issued for the two brothers, who were apprehended on January 3, 2026, following a boat chase off the coast of Ormidia.
The 56-year-old is alleged to have arranged for the vessel used in the attempted escape of his sons, who are currently being held in custody at the central prisons pending trial before the criminal court.
He is being investigated for aiding and abetting after the commission of a felony.
