Train collides with car on tracks in Emeryville
A train collided with a car stuck on the tracks in Emeryville early Saturday morning, according to a police department press release.
Shortly after 1 a.m., a woman reportedly turned onto the railroad tracks and became stuck. She exited the vehicle before an oncoming train hit it. The vehicle subsequently caught fire.
Authorities stated that the railway was shut down temporarily so emergency response, fire suppression, vehicle removal and a full inspection of the tracks could take place. The police worked with Union Pacific Railroad and the Alameda County Fire Department to handle the incident. The vehicle was taken off the tracks without further incident. There were no injuries and no signs of impairment.
