A couple from Gujarat, Dhruv and Dipika Patel, were kidnapped and held for ransom in Azerbaijan while attempting to travel to the US illegally. Following intervention by the Indian foreign ministry and the local MP, the couple was safely rescued and brought to the Indian Embassy in Baku.
