Ina Garten Shared Her & Jeffrey's Valentine's Day Menu & It Includes an Easy Dessert That's Made In the Microwave
Everyone’s favorite couple, Ina and Jeffrey Garten, have one of the most delicious Valentine’s Day menus planned for the big day. As noted on her Barefoot Contessa website, Ina’s making Panko-Crusted Rack of Lamb, Roasted Broccolini, Puréed Potatoes with Lemon, and a dessert that is actually prepared in the microwave (yes, really!). You can put blood, sweat, and tears into the main course, but when it comes to dessert, Ina thinks you should take a load off and treat yourself to something easy — but also something just as delicious as something you worked on for hours.
For dessert, Ina plans to make her English Chocolate Crisps. These chocolatey treats only have four ingredients and come together in just a few minutes. To make them, you’ll first want to chop milk chocolate and bittersweet chocolate (Ina likes Perugina or Lindt) and place 3/4 of the chopped chocolate into a microwave-safe bowl. Begin melting the chocolates together in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between with a wooden spoon, and stop the microwave process as soon as the chocolates have just melted. Add in the rest of the chocolate chunks and stir together until the mixture is smooth.
Pour this chocolate over cornflakes that have been placed into a bowl and immediately fold everything together before the chocolate has a chance to set. While doing so, fold in dried cranberries, too.
Line a sheet with parchment paper and form the chocolate crisp mounds using two soup spoons. Leave the crisps at room temperature so they can harden, then peel them from the parchment paper and serve them to your Valentine.
These crisps are so easy to make and so delicious that you’ll find yourself making them all the time. As long as you have chocolate and cornflakes in the pantry, you’ll have a yummy dessert just minutes away!
