Vince Wilfork Blasts Tom Brady's Super Bowl 60 Stance: 'That's Bullcrap'

One New England Patriots legend has bluntly called out another, as two-time Super Bowl champion and fan favorite Vince Wilfork has made it clear how he feels about Tom Brady's no "dog in the fight" stance on Super Bowl 60.

While some have been quick to mention that Brady should not be chiming in with a specific rooting interest, given his current ownership stake with the Las Vegas Raiders, it's probably also just as key to keep in mind the legendary quarterback spent an astounding 20 seasons with the Patriots organization.

It would hardly be shocking had Brady said something like, "I tend to lean toward the team I spent 20 seasons with rather than the Seahawks, a team I faced in the Super Bowl."

But the 48-year-old lead NFL announcer for Fox instead declared, "I don't have a dog in the fight," so here we are.

What Did Vince Wilfork Say About Tom Brady's Super Bowl 60 Comments?

Wilfork, who was a huge presence for the Patriots at defensive tackle for 11 seasons —earning the big fellow All-Pro honors five times — pulled no punches on Brady's "may the best team win" Super Bowl indifference.

"That's bullcrap, Tom," Wilfork said. "All that political — this ain't political. It ain't political, what it is. Raiders ain't in it. Say what it is, what you see ... At the end of the day, if you're a Patriot for life, you know what it is. Don't give me that political bullcrap. That just what it is. If you don't think we're gonna win, just pick Seattle then. Don't straddle the fence. Don't straddle the fence."

Now, it might come across as somewhat harsh from Wilfork for him to be questioning Brady being a "Patriot for life" and apparently lacking allegiance to the organization by electing to not pick a side for Super Bowl 60.

But that's a pretty wild notion for NFL fans to realistically digest considering "TB12" brought a ridiculous six Super Bowl championships to the team during his time there.

Sure, while Brady is perhaps playing things a little too safe here, keep in mind the Patriots unveiled a 17-foot, 12,300-pound bronze statue of this man outside of Gillete Stadium in Foxborough this past summer.

Of all times to make an exception, given not only the presence of the Patriots but their head coach too, this seems like one that would go over with some understanding rather than any major blowback from fans.

Particularly so since Brady will be watching the game as a fan just like the rest of us given that Super Bowl 60 will be broadcast on NBC, with the outstanding Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth on the call.

Patriots Head Coach Mike Vrabel Was Teammates With Tom Brady

Similar to that of Wilfork, Patriots first-year head coach and former linebacker Mike Vrabel spent eight seasons playing with Brady, even lining up with the offense in the red zone on occasion.

So the connection is clear, running a little deeper and a little more unique than simply a retired NFL player's former team playing in the big game.

As Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk stated, "It really is strange to see Brady not supporting the Patriots."

Additionally, the Seattle Seahawks faced Brady's Patriots in Super Bowl 49, a game that New England won 28-24 in dramatic fashion thanks to a wild interception on the goal line with just over 20 seconds to play.

However, there is yet another complication for Brady when it comes to Super 60 and the Seahawks specifically, one that may have put the final nail in his approach.

With Seattle's highly-praised offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak fully expected to take the Raiders head coaching job, it might be understandable for Brady to have ultimately chosen to sit this one out and take the political route of "may the best team win!" even though the candid Wilfork — and perhaps others — have deemed such a decision to be "bullcrap."
