Experts Make Shocking Prediction About Price of Gold in 2026
Financial analysts have made a shocking prediction about the price of gold in 2026, per The Economic Times.
Despite gold experiencing its most drastic decline in value since 1983 on Friday, JP Morgan is forecasting that the price of an ounce of gold will hit an all-time high by the end of 2026. Part of the prediction has to do with the president’s nomination of former Fed governor Ted Walsh to lead the Federal Reserve, which saw futures climb by 0.9 percent on Monday.
But JP Morgan Predicts Prises Will Soar This Year
Now, JP Morgan is predicting that gold prices will nearly double per ounce by the end of this year. They contend that an ounce of gold will hit $6,300 by the end of 2026. The brokerage firm further predicted that gold sales will top 800 tons this year alone.
“Even with the recent near-term volatility, we remain firmly bullishly convicted in gold over the medium-term on the back of a clean, structural, continued diversification trend that has further to run amid a still well-entrenched regime of real asset outperformance vs paper assets,” JP Morgan said in a statement on Monday.
Gold Has Been Accruing Serious Value in the Last Few Years
Despite all that “recent near-term volatility,” gold has been having a moment of late. In 2025, the precious metal set 53 new all-time highs and surpassed 5,000 tons for the first time in recorded history, per the World Gold Council. The annual average price of gold increased 44 percent over 2024, ending last year at $3,431 per ounce.
And JP Morgan isn’t the only brokerage firm predicting that gold prices will rise to all-time highs this year. Deutsche Bank likewise believes that prices will top $6,000 by the end of 2026, while UBS and Société Générale predict prices will top out at $6,200 and $6,000, respectively. Those forecasts surpass previous predictions by Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and Citi, which posited that an ounce of gold would hit $5,700, $5,400 and $5,000 this year, respectively.
