Morocco to appeal CAF sanctions over AFCON final chaos in Rabat
February 4 – Morocco said it will appeal the sanctions imposed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) that resulted in fine of $415,000 and match bans allowing the chaotic Africa Cup of Nations final.
In a statement, the Moroccan FA (FRMF) said: “Given the incompatibility of these sanctions with the scale and severity of the incidents (…), the FRMF has decided to appeal these decisions.”
Last month, CAF punished both Morocco and Senegal after the Africa Cup of Nations final descended into chaos after Senegal’s players walked off to protest a late penalty award to Morocco.
