The First 'Yellowstone' Sequel Streams Sooner Than You Think. Here's What To Know About 'Marshals'
When Yellowstoneended in late 2024, Taylor Sheridan's universe didn't end. Instead, in 2025, the Yellowstone saga went back into the past with the second and final season of 1923. And although 1944 is coming at some point, as well as a spinoff series featuring Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser), called Dutton Ranch, the first actual sequel series, set after the events of Yellowstone, is almost here.
Simply titled Marshals — though informally called Y: Marshals — this sequel series follows Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) after the conclusion of Yellowstone, and takes a decidedly different tone and direction than its parent series. With the release date coming very soon, here's everything we know about Marshals, including the release date, trailer, cast, and plot.
Marshals Trailer and Plot
The first trailer for Marshals was released in mid-January and reveals what Kayce decides to do with his life after Yellowstone ended. We see flashbacks to Kayce's time as a Navy Seal, and he references the fact that "Yellowstone is gone." In this series, Kayce is recruited to join the U.S. Marshals in Montana, meaning this show will become more of a police procedural and less of a family drama.
"Yellowstone obviously made the end of Kayce’s story so perfect," Luke Grimes told Men's Journal in 2025, and described why he felt like this story would work.
"He sort of gets what he always wanted, which is family, his own little slice of heaven, and he gets to be cowboying every day," Grimes explained. "He kind of threw his badge in the bushes. And so, with this, I was like, how are we going to make this work? Is he going to go pick the badge back up? Why would he do that? We had to find the reason why, and we finally did, and I think we had to make it make sense; otherwise, I wasn’t going to do it just to do it."
Marshals Cast
Other than Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, there are a few other Yellowstone characters returning, including:

Marshals Release Date and Streaming Info
Marshals will debut on March 1, 2026, airing directly on CBS. This means that, unlike 1923, which was a Paramount+ original, or Yellowstone, which aired on the Paramount Network, Marshals will drop on the network first, before streaming. Many CBS shows, like Tracker and Watson, air on network and also stream on Paramount+. So, Marshals will air both on traditional network TV and stream on Paramount+.
