Woman shot, killed in UI Health parking garage in Little Italy

A woman on her way to an appointment at UI Health was fatally shot in a parking garage Tuesday in the 1100 block of South Wood Street in Little Italy in what hospital officials say may have been a domestic-related attack, according to a release from UI Health.

Investigators with UIC police believe the shooting, which occurred at 1:35 p.m., “may be related to a domestic dispute," according to the statement. Chicago police deferred to UIC police, according to a spokesperson.

The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the woman as Shawnquanice Kimbrough, a 34-year-old Chicago resident.

“There is no threat to the campus community,” officials said in the statement. “The northeast section of the third floor of the garage remains closed as part of the investigation.”
