Jelly Roll Remains Vague When Asked His Political Opinion, Which Leads to Further Speculation About His Party Affiliation
Jelly Roll went viral during the 2026 Grammys when he gave his acceptance speech for Best Contemporary Country Album.
“I want to tell y’all right now. Jesus is for everybody. Jesus is not owned by any one political party. Jesus is Jesus. Anybody can have a relationship with him. I love you Lord,” he said, in part.
Afterwards, as many on stage spoke out against ICE, he was asked by the press if he had anything to say about “what’s going on in the country right now?”

He responded, “People shouldn’t care to hear my opinion. I’m a dumb redneck. I hate to be the artist that sounds aloof, but I just feel so disconnected from what’s happening. I didn’t know politics were real until I was in my mid-20s in jail. That’s how disconnected you are when you grow up in a drug-addicted household,” he said. “You think we, like, had common calls about what’s happening in rural politics? Like, we’re just trying to find a way to survive, man, you know?”
He then switched up and actually said he does have a lot to say on the topic, but you’d hear about it later.
“I have a lot to say about it, and I’m going to in the next week, and everybody’s going to hear exactly what I have to say about it the most loud and clear way I’ve ever spoken in my life,” he added.
This has caused many to speculate online whether he’s more MAGA or Republican leaning.
Some comments on posts include, “Don’t try to tell people about Jesus and then say you’re disconnected from pain and suffering of the world” on Threads, while another wrote on X, “Jelly Roll PREACHHHHH jesus is not for one political party THAT PART.” Another on X wrote, “Did everyone miss where jelly roll said Jesus is for everybody and Jesus is not owned by one political party? I feel like he’s saying the right does not own Christianity which might not be the most popular message but it’s important,” while another wrote, “This whole ‘I don’t do politics’ needs to go. When you’re too scared to answer, we know what your true answer is.”
