Special ‘Doctor Who’ Auction Set to Sell 200 Props from Iconic TV Show

Doctor Who fans prepare for an auction of epic proportions: 200 props and costumes. The bidding will open on February 3 and go through February 19.

The exclusive online auction, in partnership with Propstore, gives Whovians across the world a chance to own a piece of television history. Bids start at £100.

“Doctor Who is built on the passion of its fans, and this auction is a way to celebrate that connection,” said Sarah Bold, Head of Marketing, Global Brands and Licensing BBC Studios. “By bidding, fans not only bring home a piece of television history, they also help us protect and preserve the incredible legacy of Doctor Who for future generations, while supporting BBC Children in Need.”

One prop stands out from the rest: the bronze Time War Dalek, a terrifying and well-designed antagonist introduced in 2005. This specific Dalek appeared in the 2012 episode “Asylum of the Daleks” during Matt Smith’s time as the Doctor.

If you’re curious what other props are on the list, you’ll need to register on the Propstore website. The items for sale will be released when the auction goes live on February 3.

Twenty percent of the auction money will go to BBC Children in Need. The remaining will be reinvested in the storage and preservation of historic Doctor Who items for future generations.

Doctor Who is a beloved British show about a time-traveling Time Lord that first started in 1963. Over the decades, fifteen different actors have played The Doctor, who regenerates into an entirely new form when a new actor is brought in. After several breaks, the show has seen a resurgence in popularity since its revival in 2005.

The 36th annual Gallifrey One “Doctor Who” North American fan convention on February 6-8 lines up with the online auction, likely leading to a lot of bidding wars in the Marriott Los Angeles Airport Hotel.
