Tottenham predicted XI vs Eintracht Frankfurt as Pape Sarr returns just in time
Tottenham return to Champions League action for the final time in the league phase, with Thomas Frank aiming to secure a top-eight finish in his debut season in Europe’s top flight. We have now attempted to predict how the Dane could line up against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Tottenham Hotspur are once again back in Champions League action, but this time it will be for the final fixture of the league phase, with Eintracht Frankfurt standing in their way.
A victory against the German side will do Thomas Frank’s team a lot of good, as it would seal their place in the round of 16 and help them avoid the additional play-off games.
A win would also ease some of the pressure on the Dane, who found himself back under scrutiny after failing to build on the Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund, drawing with Burnley in the Premier League.
Tottenham predicted XI vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Tottenham come into this clash significantly stretched, with 12 players sidelined, and we have now attempted to predict how Frank will line up on Wednesday.
Goalkeeper – Guglielmo Vicario: No rotation is expected here, as Tottenham need to secure a win, so Frank is set to stick with his number one.
Right-back – Pedro Porro: Frank revealed that Porro had a minor issue, which led to his early withdrawal against Burnley, but he should be fit for Wednesday and is expected to start.
Centre-back – Cristian Romero: The Tottenham captain was once again on the scoresheet, with his goal against Burnley earning a point. He was another injury concern after kicking the advertising board in celebration, but he should be available on Wednesday.
Centre-back – Micky van de Ven: The Dutchman should return to the Tottenham squad in the Champions League after missing the previous game in the competition due to yellow cards.
Left-back – Destiny Udogie: The full-back should return to the XI after being rested against Burnley, following his last outing in the game against Dortmund.
Pivot midfielder – Archie Gray: Spurs remain light in midfield, which should see Gray start once again in that deep midfield role.
Pivot midfielder – Pape Matar Sarr: Lucas Bergvall is injured and unavailable, while Rodrigo Bentancur is also out. Conor Gallagher is not registered for Spurs in the Champions League, and Joao Palhinha is a doubt, which should see Sarr return to the starting XI for the first time since returning from AFCON.
Attacking midfielder – Xavi Simons: With limited options available to Frank, Simons should retain his place as the attacking midfielder.
Right winger – Wilson Odobert: The young French international impressed against Dortmund and showed good intent against Burnley with his direct play and willingness to make things happen, which should earn him another start.
Striker – Dominic Solanke: The striker needs more minutes to regain match sharpness, having scored his first Champions League goal against Dortmund last time out in the competition, and he should start again here.
Left winger – Djed Spence: The full-back has become something of a utility option for Tottenham, covering across both full-back positions and recently operating higher up the pitch. He has impressed in a more advanced role and could again start on the left wing ahead of Kolo Muani.
