Tottenham star gives his 22-word review of John Heitinga in first week of training
A Tottenham defender has been very impressed by new first-team assistant coach John Heitinga in his first weeks at the club.
Heitinga joined Spurs as their first-team assistant coach last week, replacing Matt Wells, who left the Lilywhites last month to take over as the head coach of MLS side Colorado Rapids.
According to reports, Thomas Frank played a key role in hiring Heitinga, who arrived at N17 three months after departing from his role as Ajax boss.
A Tottenham Hotspur defender has now shed light on how he has found working with the Dutchman.
Kevin Danso claims John Heitinga has been a great addition to Tottenham
Last week, Frank confirmed that Heitinga will be primarily working with Tottenham’s backline, and backed him to add a lot of value to the coaching set-up.
The 42-year-old walks into the North London club at a tumultuous time, but one Spurs centre-back has been left impressed by the newcomer.
When asked how he has found working with the former Ajax head coach, Danso told Football.London: “He’s been a great addition. He’s got great experience as everyone knows, and he’s keeping us onboard, it’s exactly what we need.”
Heitinga could be in line for the top Spurs job
Despite the win over Borussia Dortmund, reports indicate that Thomas Frank remains in danger of being sacked, especially after another disappointing result against Burnley.
Over the last few days, some outlets have claimed that Heitinga is the favourite to take over as Tottenham’s interim head coach should the club decide to sack Thomas Frank.
However, Heitinga’s agent has confirmed that there is no clause in the Dutchman’s contract regarding Frank’s future, admitting that the Dane’s exit could lead to his client also being let go by Tottenham.
