Tottenham could receive second bid for forgotten striker but big roadblock remains

Tottenham could get a sizable fee for one of their young players, but the transfer remains stuck due to a loan complication.

The drama regarding Alejo Veliz’s proposed Tottenham exit continues to unfold like a soap opera. The striker has impressed since returning to Rosario Central on loan and was in line for a permanent exit from N17.

It was reported last week that Spurs accepted an £8.7m bid for Veliz from Brazilian side Bahia, but the move has come to a halt.

This is because it emerged that Tottenham could not recall Veliz from Rosario Central this month, as the conditions for the recall clause to be activated had not been met.

A new report in Argentine outlet La Capital has now explained that there are only two ways Spurs can recall the Argentine striker and sell him this month.

They either have to pay compensation to Rosario to end the loan agreement early, or they have to convince the player to cut short his spell at the club and join Bahia.

Meanwhile, Bahia, who are part of the City Football Group, are now ready to increase their offer to help pay for the compensation Spurs would owe to Rosario.

The Brazilian club are also willing to sweeten the deal further by offering Tottenham a buy-back clause for every transfer window.

Why Veliz’s move still remains stuck

A different report from Transfer Canallaexplains that there has been no greenlight from either Rosario or the player so far.

The Argentine club hold the veto power, and their stance on Veliz has not changed. They will not be rushed into accepting an early exit and are happy to keep the striker until June.

Meanwhile, Veliz also prefers to continue with his boyhood club for five more months, and as a result, Spurs are not having any luck in accelerating his sale to Bahia.
