Tadala Chihana lauds Gertrude Mutharika for empowering less privileged, says Malawi’s story is incomplete without women
Second Lady, Tadala Hannah Chihana says no story of the country’s economic and political journey can be told without the sacrifices and resilience of women, highlighting that they have remained the backbone of progress, national- building, unity and growth from independence to date.
She spoke at the Livingstonia CCAP Area 47 Congregation during a fundraising service for this year’s Women’s World Day of Prayer, where she contributed K2 million.
In her sermon, Mrs Chihana said apart from being the engine of the country’s resilience and the vanguard of the future, women have always played a stabilizing role in the country, contributing to peace, unity and development in ways that often go unnoticed.
“Women’s voices remain the heartbeat of our nation; echoing, undaunted, unyielding and rising to shape a future of equity and progress. It is therefore, important to remind one another that our nation is incomplete without the strength of her women.” said Chihana.
She also emphasized the importance of unity among women if they are to overcome multifaceted challenges.
Chihana: We must always seek the face of our Lord through fervent prayers and divine provision as many women are engulfed in a myriad of challenges that make us fail. But with prayers, we will overcome any ‘mountain’ that is ahead of us.”
Chihana also lauded the First Lady, Madame Getrude Mutharika for always standing by women and the less privileged in the society, describing her gesture as progressive.
National Chairperson for the Women’s World Day of Prayer, Esther Grant, said the contribution will go a long way in preparation to host the event that is billed at K60 million which will take on March 6.
