Pakistan’s military said Friday that 12 militants were killed in the city of Khuzdar, Balochistan, after launching coordinated attacks on security forces and local banks. The military described the assailants as members of the “Hindustan Conspiracy,” responsible for multiple violent incidents in the region.
According to a military statement, the attackers targeted the Khuzdar police headquarters, the National Bank of Pakistan, and Habib Bank Limited. During the assault, militants attempted to kidnap a police officer but were thwarted by rapid response from security personnel.
The militants reportedly looted 3.4 million Pakistani rupees from the banks before being neutralized. Security forces recovered the stolen cash during follow-up operations in the area.
Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest province by area, has faced sporadic militant attacks for years, including assaults on security personnel, government offices, and infrastructure. Analysts say insurgent activity is often linked to regional separatist groups and cross-border militant networks.
Pakistan’s military has intensified counterterrorism operations across Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces in recent years. In 2025, over 1,200 militants were reported killed in similar operations, according to Pakistani defense sources.
Authorities emphasized that operations in Khuzdar were part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of civilians and secure urban centers from militant threats.
Security experts warned that militant groups often exploit weak governance and remote regions to plan high-profile attacks, highlighting the continued need for coordinated intelligence and rapid military response.
