By this time of the year, the street usually has a fair idea of the allocations made to emerging markets by the US and other global investors. But thanks to President Trump, there is no clarity on this front as yet. Two things need to be watched in this context: First, of course, is an indication of allocations being made. Second is the government’s plans to tackle a spike in oil prices and any further delay in the India-US tariff deal. These are the short-term events that will impact sentiment. But in the long term, there is only one thing which matters: Earnings. So, focus on companies where earnings are set to grow.
