'This is exactly how Republican senators talk about you': Insider has a message for Trump
Critical comments about Donald Trump that Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) made in secret grand jury testimony reflect a general belief among GOP lawmakers that the president is delusional to the point that Graham asserted was “unnerving," according to an insider.
Appearing on MS NOW on Thursday morning, ex-Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) was asked about the New York Times report that made it clear that supporters of the president also have a surprisingly low opinion of him.
According to the Times report, Graham made it clear that he had advised Trump that the 2020 presidential election was not stolen and explained, “I have told him more times than we can count that he fell short. If you told him Martians came and stole votes, he’d be inclined to believe it.”
Asked about the candid appraisal of the president by one of his highest-profile boosters, the smiling McCaskill said she had a message for Trump.
Jonathan Lemire laughed while claiming Trump is likely unhappy with what was said about him in the grand jury transcripts, and prompted his guest with, “Feel free to weigh in on that. But you obviously served with Senator Graham in the Senate for quite some time. You know, his about faces on Trump are well documented. This appears to be just the latest example, but a very dangerous one because of how close Trump came to overthrowing this nation's democracy back in 2020.”
“Yeah, I have a message for Donald Trump on this: This is exactly how Republican senators talk about you when you're not around. Most of the republican senators know that Donald Trump is totally bizarro about the 2020 election, that it was not stolen, that it was perfectly fair, and that it was done appropriately,” she remarked.
“By the way, many of them were elected in that election along with members of Congress. So if it was such a bad election, those folks are in trouble too,” she observed. “So to me, this is just a little glimpse of what I hear when I talk to Republicans; they are embarrassed, they think he's going too far, they don't think he's grounded. They don't think he knows enough about some of the most important issues. And I think we're seeing that right now.”
