On January 13, the first three episodes of the third season of the show premiered on Hulu, sucking us right back into Stephen and Lucy’s toxic romance. But while we sink our teeth into this season, the fate of the show is looming in the back of our minds.

Is Tell Me Lies Season 3 the Last Season of the Show?

There’s no official confirmation that Tell Me Lies is ending after season 3, but there’s a lot of evidence that suggests this may be the last season of the show.

In August 2025, Tom Ellis, who plays Oliver on the show and is married to the show’s creator, Meaghan Oppenheimer, was asked by Entertainment Tonight if he thought season 3 would be the last one. He replied: “I think so, yeah. I think Meaghan has written it to be the last season for sure.”

However, Oppenheimer was a little more vague when she was asked the same question this month. “In terms of future seasons, it’s impossible to really know at this point,” Oppenheimer told Us Weekly. “I certainly had always thought this was always more or less the ending I’d had in mind.”

She didn’t completely rule out future seasons, saying, “But you never know what’s going to happen in the future. But there’s definitely a sense where I didn’t want to leave anything hanging this season. Basically, I wanted to satisfy everyone.”

So far, Tell Me Lies has not been renewed for season 4. This is not unusual for the show, which has in the past been picked up for another season while the preceding season is airing.

Tell Me Lies season 3 picks up where we left off with Lucy, Stephen, and the rest of the crew in season 2. According to the official synopsis shared by Hulu, Tell Me Lies season 3 “follows Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White) as they’ve rekindled their tumultuous romance in time for spring semester at Baird College. While they promise things will be different this time, past indiscretions hinder their best intentions, and Lucy finds herself embroiled in a controversy she wants nothing to do with. Meanwhile, the disastrous repercussions from the previous year also force Lucy and Stephen’s friends to face their own destructive behaviors. As scandalous secrets fester around campus, vicious consequences threaten Lucy and everyone in her circle.”
