Former Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich has passed away aged 59.
His death was confirmed by a representative for his family.
“It is with profound sorrow that the Brnovich family announces the passing of Mark Brnovich.”
“Best known as Arizona’s 26th Attorney General, a state and federal prosecutor, and champion of justice, he will forever be remembered and cherished by us as a beloved father, husband, son, and brother.
“We are heartbroken with this loss and are deeply moved by the outpouring of love and support from so many wonderful people across the state and country.”
“The family asks for privacy during this difficult time. Memorial service arrangements will be made public as they become available.”

His latest post on the X platform was a Biblical quote in memory of a friend of his who had just passed away.

An explanation for his death has not yet been provided.
Brnovich was elected Arizona attorney general in 2014, defeating then-incumbent Tom Horne in the Republican primary before beating Democrat Felicia Rotellini in the general election.
He then won re-election in 2018 before stepping down in 2022.
As Arizona’s attorney general, Brnovich became a central figure in the efforts to expose the fraud that handed the state of Arizona to Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.
Despite being elected as a conservative Republican, Brnovich was the subject of widespread criticism over his refusal to challenge the certification of Arizona’s results.
He later ran for the U.S. Senate in 2022 but was defeated in the GOP primary by Blake Masters.
An Arizona State University graduate, Brnovich served in the Army National Guard and held senior legal roles at both the state and federal level.
He also completed stints as an assistant U.S. attorney and Arizona’s assistant attorney general, as well as heading up the Arizona Department of Gaming.
He was a first-generation American of Serbian descent. In 2025, President Trump nominated him as U.S. ambassador to Serbia, although the nomination was later withdrawn.
