Tottenham to wear commemorative 1901 FA Cup kit against Aston Villa and it looks superb

Tottenham Hotspur have dropped a special edition shirt to commemorate the team’s famous 1901 FA Cup win and it should go down well with the supporters.

Recent years have seen Tottenham Hotspur struggle to make any reasonable progress in the FA Cup. In fact, Spurs were taken to extra-time last season by Tamworth, who play their football in the National League.

However, Tottenham have a rich history in the competition and have lifted the famous trophy eight times across their history.

The first of these victories came in the 1900/01 season, as Spurs won the FA Cup a year after being crowned as champions of the Southern League.

Spurs were the first team to win the FA Cup as a non-league side and this is a record which remains standing to this very day.

Therefore, the club are celebrating this unmatched achievement by teaming up with Nike to launch a shirt which pays tribute to the 1901 success, according to Hypebeast.

The AIA logo has been switched from red to white which will delight Tottenham fans. This is to keep everything in line with the lilywhite colour scheme, as the kit replicates the one worn all those years ago.

“To mark 125 years since our groundbreaking FA Cup success in 1901, we want to bring what remains a historic achievement to the forefront of popular culture with what is a truly beautiful shirt, delivered in collaboration with Nike,” shared Merchandise and Licensing Director Duncan Pass in an official statement.

“Seeing the team step onto the pitch wearing a shirt inspired by the heroes of yesteryear is sure to capture the imagination of fans young and old.”

The special edition Spurs jersey is on sale tomorrow

Tottenham’s limited edition shirt will receive its debut for the team’s FA Cup tie against Aston Villa on Saturday.

However, only a select number of supporters will be able to get their hands on one of the shirts, because a limited run of 1901 pieces will go on sale at 9am GMT on the day of the match at the official online club shop.
