JUST IN: House Votes to Advance Democrats’ Obamacare Subsidies – These 9 Republicans Voted with Dems

The House of Representatives on Wednesday voted 221-205 to advance a bill that will revive the Democrats’ Obamacare subsidies.

Nine Republicans voted with the Democrats to advance the bill.

A full vote will take place on Thursday.

The bill will extend the expired Obamacare subsidies for three years.

These nine Republican lawmakers joined the Democrats: Fitzpatrick (PA), Bresnahan (PA), Mackenzie (PA), Lawler (NY), Salazar (FL), LaLota (NY), Valadao (CA), Kean (NJ), Miller (OH).

The bill is dead on arrival in the Senate.

Politico reported:

Nine House Republicans broke rank Wednesday in support of advancing a Democratic bill that would revive key Obamacare subsidies for three years — a move that sets up a final passage vote Thursday that will for the first time this Congress put members of the House GOP Conference on the record for or against the enhanced tax credits.

House members voted 221-205 — with all Democrats voting in favor — to move forward with a Democratic-led discharge petition to force consideration of the legislation against the explicit wishes of Speaker Mike Johnson.

The Louisiana Republican for months refused to put a bill on the floor to prevent the credits from ultimately expiring Dec. 31, citing divisions within the GOP ranks over the policy but also criticizing the credits himself.

Last year the Senate rejected more than a dozen dueling healthcare plans as Obamacare’s enhanced premium tax credits expired at the end of 2025.

President Trump has repeatedly called for the ‘Affordable Care Act’ subsidies to be given to the consumers rather than the ‘fat cat’ insurance companies.

“I am recommending to Senate Republicans that the Hundreds of Billions of Dollars currently being sent to money sucking Insurance Companies in order to save the bad Healthcare provided by ObamaCare, BE SENT DIRECTLY TO THE PEOPLE SO THAT THEY CAN PURCHASE THEIR OWN, MUCH BETTER, HEALTHCARE, and have money left over,” Trump recently said in a Truth Social post.
