Now Playing: In Cold Blood and By Heart
Last year, The North Face put out the film Circle of Madness, and captured the attention of much of the snowsports world. The skier-snowboarder hybrid film from French snowboarder Victor de Le Rue and Italian skier Markus Eder had massive frontside 360s and even bigger tomahawks. Throw in a few one-footers in jeans, and it was enough to win the iF3 Film of the Year award.
This year, de le Rue is back with another project, but it looks entirely different. Sure, there's the same massive cliff drops and snowboard mountaineering we all love, but this film navigates the rider's inner voice of someone torn between fear and obsession.
We meet de le Rue after his fourth Freeride World Tour victory.
"No interviews, no showboating—just one man’s honest dialogue with the mountains," promotional material for the film says. "A visual and emotional journey into what truly drives us. In the end, it’s not about the best ride—it’s about feeling fully alive."
The film is presented by Jones Snowboards, FASE, Oakley, The North Face, and Compagnie du Mont Blanc. Watch the full film below.
Noa Barrau and Alex Heitler are the main filmers on the project. Aditional cinematography is done by Adrien Riu, Romeo Ceas, Guido Perrini, Aubon Vaissiere, Etienne Merel, and the Freeride World Tour.
