She recounted how her child connects their relocation directly to the President, telling Acosta, “He made us move in order for our own safety, and now he’s destroying the country”.
Meanwhile, tensions flared at Mar-a-Lago over the Thanksgiving holiday when President Trump verbally attacked a reporter during a briefing about the tragic shooting of two National Guard troops in Washington, D.C.. When CBS News correspondent Nancy Cordes asked why the President blamed the Biden administration for the attack, Trump retorted, “Are you stupid? Are you a stupid person?”. The confrontation centered on Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old former CIA collaborator accused of ambushing the service members near the Farragut West Metro station, killing Specialist Sarah Beckstrom and critically wounding Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe.
Trump vehemently rejected the reporter’s premise that the suspect was properly screened, insisting that the Biden administration’s “reckless” withdrawal policies allowed thousands of dangerous individuals to enter the country unchecked. He dismissed Cordes’s inquiries as a “dishonest narrative,” telling her she was only asking such questions because she was “incompetent” and “stupid”. The shooting has since prompted the White House to double down on its “federal takeover” of D.C. security, with officials citing the violence as justification for the increased National Guard presence.
