New Delhi: Recent reports indicate that top Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah could miss a considerable part of the next tour to England. India’s five-Test series against England begins June 20, with the team announcement expected on May 24. The Australia tour group is expected to feature mostly, but a few players from the domestic scene will also be picked for the team.
According to the Indian Express, Jasprit Bumrah could sit out some Test matches due to physical concerns. He allegedly explained to the BCCI that playing more than three matches would be too tiring for him. “With Jasprit Bumrah already informing the board that his body can’t take the toll of more than three Tests matches, the selection committee were known to be in a dilemma on whether to fly out with a similarly iffy bowler,” the report said.
Before his back injury in the final Test, Bumrah played every match of the Australian tour. The Indian team was defeated 3-1 in the series.
India’s cricket team faces a significant setback with Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of the entire series, compounded by Mohammed Shami’s uncertain participation.
ESPNcricinfo reports that while Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Shami is healthy enough for IPL bowling, his recent workload may not be sufficient for the rigorous demands of Test cricket. The 2023 World Test Championship final against Australia was his last Test match for India.

The selectors haven’t officially decided whether to exclude Shami from the series, but it’s probable they’ll err on the side of caution and omit him unless his medical assessment is positive.
Because of a bad ankle injury, a 34-year-old athlete has missed a year of competition and then suffered another setback. After the ankle surgery done in February 2024, he was diagnosed with right knee pain and had to receive medical treatment.
