Summer 2025 is afoot, and people are busy searching for a weather appropriate shoe that provides comfort and style for the adventures that await during the hotter months. Ferrari has delivered a potential candidate with its new brushed leather slide loafers.
The new shoes are a cross between a classic loafer and slides sandals, giving fans a mix of formal and casual wear in one. The concept follows as other classic shoes are being blended to create a new style, like the popular ballerina sneakers and sneaker loafers.
The Slide Loafers retail for $850 on the Ferrari website for both men and women and feature a slip-on, open-toe design. The upper follows the usual design of a loafer, but the rest of the shoe follows the design of a traditional flat sandal, with a rounded-toe silhouette. The slides are made of 100 percent calf leather and also feature soft insoles, which seem to be a major draw for footwear fans who are prioritizing comfort above all in their latest shoe purchases.
“A brand-new reinterpretation of the loafer model, these handcrafted sliders in brushed leather are distinguished by the upper’s iconic design with stitching,” the brand describes the shoe on their website. “With red leather lining, the model features a soft insole with logo label, while the sole with non-slip detail is completed with the Prancing Horse emblem.”
The shoe has already been inspiring some conversation on social media, with some people saying the slides will be the preferred footwear of choice for grilling and barbecues this summer. “The rich uncle grill slides,” one Instagram user wrote.
“Whoever wins the grill-off, wins these,” another person added, with another writing: “Uncs all over [are] just rejoicing…we feel seen.”
The Ferrari shoe is not the first of its kind. Earlier this year, Jacquemus released The Mocassin sandals as part of their La Croisière collection. Similar to the Ferrari slides, Jacquemus called theirs “Loafer sandals,” featuring a penny loafer-like upper but as part of a traditional sandal design.
While sneaker loafers have taken over and various brands like New Balance, Hoka, Converse, and others have already jumped on the trend, only time will tell if the Loafer Slide trend is on the rise and here to stay.
Ferrari’s fashion line, which includes footwear, officially launched in June 2021. The launch was marked by a fashion show held at the company’s factory in Maranello, Italy, becoming one of Ferrari’s largest investments outside the automobile industry.
