3 New Frosty Flavors Debut at Wendy's This Week
One of Wendy's signature menu items is the restaurant's famed Frosty drinks, along with, of course, their square-shaped hamburgers. The first Frosty was actually inspired by ice cream that a race track in Cleveland offered in the 1960s, according to Wendy's. The treat dates back decades, too, because Wendy's launched the first Chocolate Frosty in 1969, as part of one of Wendy's five original menu items. The rest of the menu included burgers, French fries, soft drinks and their signature chili, all of which are still offered today.
They say that if it isn't broken, don't fix it, but that's not always the case. Wendy's is switching up their Frosty offerings, and the new varieties are available starting May 12.
Following launching Frosty Swirls on April 15, Frosty Fusions are debuting across the U.S. on May 12, according to Wendy's. The fast-food chain first announced both new items in March 2025 at part of its Investor Day event.
"Frosty is one of the most iconic items on Wendy’s menu and we know that consumers are increasingly seeking new flavors and variety," Lindsay Radkoski, U.S. chief marketing officer for The Wendy's Company, said in a statement. "Our new Frosty Swirls and Frosty Fusions will give our fans even more ways to enjoy this classic treat."
The Frosty Swirls are available as either a classic Vanilla or Chocolate Frosty, and customers can pick one of three sauces to add, including either the Strawberry Frosty Swirl, Caramel Frosty Swirl or Brownie Batter Swirl.
As for Frosty Fusions, what makes those different is that customers can add mix-ins for "extra flavor to the silky smooth Vanilla or Chocolate Frosty." The three mix-ins that are available include Pop-Tarts Strawberry Frosty Fusion, Oreo Brownie Frosty Fusion and Caramel Crunch Frosty Fusion.
In each case, the mix-ins can be mixed into the vanilla or chocolate flavor to create a unique treat. So, in this case, change might be a good thing. Of course, the original Frosty is still available, too.
