Brother and sister knifed man to death after ‘row over cannabis’
A brother and sister have been convicted of brutally murdering a man after a petty row thought to be over a cannabis deal.
Isaiah Marsh, 21, and Mya Marsh, 23, attacked 21-year-old Minister Enfrence during a confrontation near their home in Birmingham’s Kings Norton area last November.
CCTV showed Isaiah grabbing Mr Enfrence before Mya ‘joins’ in and ends up ‘on top of them’ before handing her brother a knife, a court heard.
Ms Enfrence stabbed more than 20 times in his body, arms, hands and head and died nearby.
The pair have never admitted their exact motive but prosecutors it might have been an argument about Mya ‘being kept waiting by Minister’.
‘It seems Mya wanted to buy cannabis,’ Jennifer Josephs KC told the court.
‘It might have been an argument about a damaged bicycle.’
‘It is apparent that the two defendants knew Minister and knew him before the incident took place.
‘There is no dispute as to who was there. Much of the CCTV comes from nearby houses.’
Mya was seen brandishing the knife while shouting, while footage clearly showed Mr Enfrence empty-handed.
Isaiah claimed he was acting in self-defence, while Mya claimed she did not believe her brother would use the knife against Mr Enfrence.
The pair then stashed two knives in their wheelie bin, along with clothes they wore during the murder.
Mya then took her victim’s bike and casually went to work ‘as if nothing had happened’, the court heard, while Isaiah took himself to hospital for injuries to his hands.
Mya was arrested the day after the murder, after which Isaiah handed himself in.
Mr Enfrence’s family said in a tribute: ‘Minister, you have been taken from us so abruptly and this has made an impact in our lives leaving, a hole in our hearts that cannot be filled.
‘But we are happy to say you are now with the Lord in a better place. We will meet you again in eternity.’
Both denied murder and manslaugher, and were convicted of murder. They will be sentenced at a later hearing.
