Ashley Judd Details Mom Naomi's Tragic Final Comments Before Death

Actress Ashley Judd is detailing her mom Naomi Judd's tragic final comments as she lay dying.

Judd made the comments about her singing legend mother in a new documentary called The Judd Family: Truth Be Told. Naomi Judd died by suicide in April of 2022 at the age of 76, and her daughter was in the house at the time.

Ashley Judd gave a preview of the conversation details to People Magazine. She revealed that, the morning Naomi Judd died, she sent her daughteer a text that read "pls help."

When she got to the house, she found her mom "uncomfortable in her body," and saying "didn't want to be here anymore."

Judd said her mother told her that one of the reasons she kept living was because of Ashley and Ashley told her, 'You don't have to worry about me, Mom. I'm okay. I'm okay.' And she really clocked that in a really deep way," People recounted.

That's when Naomi went upstairs and, unbeknownst to her daughter at first, ended her life.

I saw that she had harmed herself," said Ashley Judd, who had gone upstairs to check on her mother.

As Naomi lay dying from a gunshot wound, her daughter held and spoke to her for a half-four, People reported.

"The first thing I said to her was, 'It's okay, it's okay. I've seen how much you've been suffering.' And we just breathed together, and I talked to her and told her how much I loved her, and it's okay to go," Ashley says in the documentary, according to People.

"When she died, my most earnest wish was to make sure that she was relieved and absolved of her guilt and her shame. I was holding her hand. I was kissing her. She was so soft. She smelled so pretty," she said.
