Kristin Cavallari Reveals Identity of Mystery Athlete She Dated
Kristin Cavallari spilled the beans on the identity of a mystery athlete that she dated several months ago. On the April 1 episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast, the former MTV star revealed that she had a fling with retired NHL player Nate Thompson.
"He is an ex-hockey player,” Cavallari, 38, said of the former L.A. Kings and Boston Bruins forward. “He's been retired for a couple years now. He's a dad. He's someone who has done a lot of work on himself, and we really connected on such a deep level. Honestly, one of the deeper relationships I've had, especially in such a short amount of time."
“I don’t even care,” she said after spilling Thompson’s name. “I said his name on [my podcast] tour. I really think he’s such a great guy.”
The mom of three noted that she and Thompson, 40, had an “amazing" connection and "didn't hold back anything" during their brief relationship. Of the timeline of the romance, she teased that she spent New Year’s with the ex-athlete.
Cavallari, who was married to former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler for seven years, admitted that while she was attracted to Thompson, the “flame” wasn’t there for a lasting romance. She also clarified that she never considered Thompson to be a boyfriend.
Cavallari first teased the romance in December during an appearance on Bunny XO’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast. “I’m kinda dating someone else now. I’m not going to say who it is and it’s really new,” she said at the time, before noting that her mystery man was a “retired athlete.”
The Uncommon James founder admitted that athletes are her usual type and that she’s happy to wear the “wives and girlfriends” label. “They love me! I’m a f–ing WAG through and through,” she said.
On her new podcast, Cavallari said she is “done” dating pro athletes.
Cavallari’s reveal about Thompson came exactly six months after she announced her breakup with 24-year-old TikTok star Mark Estes.
On the October 1, 2024 episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast, Cavallari explained that the end of her seven-month relationship came down to the age difference and Estes’ lack of life experience. “He’s been the best boyfriend I’ve ever had,” she told fans at the time. “I just know long-term he needs to experience life.”
