CHANNEL 4 viewers have switched off its ‘awful’ new drama Patience as they insisted it was a carbon copy over another show.
The broadcaster debuted its latest offering to viewers on Wednesday, with the second episode airing on last night.
Viewers watched as archivist Patience was recruited by a detective who discovered her unique talents[/caption]Patience is set in York where an autistic archivist is thrown into the world of crime when a detective spots her unique talents.
Laura Fraser and Ella Maisy Purvis lead the cast of the new crime thriller.
Viewers watched as the new duo tried to connect the dots after a man was found dead and they suspect foul play is involved.
But the storyline left fans underwhelmed as they branded Patience a ‘carbon copy’ of French drama Astrid.
Taking to social media, one fan raged: “#Patience is a copy of the French drama, which is amazing. Astrid, Murder in Paris. While #Patience is okay, it’s a far cry from the original. Not very inventive of @Channel4.”
A second wrote: “Ah, I see Channel 4 is trying to do a pale imitation of France’s superb #AstridEtRaphaelle with #Patience. I think I’ll give it a miss. Can’t come up with your own ideas?”
“#Patience on Channel 4 started well but it seems very similar to the #WalterPresents French drama #Astrid Will stick with it for the York scenery,” said a third.
While fourth fumed: “Did Channel 4 #Patience literally plagiarise the plot of episode 1 of #Astrid and somehow the character herself? Or am I bonkers?”
Astrid: Murder in Paris is also available on Channel 4 and starred Sara Mortensen and Lola Dewaere.
It ran for five series before being axed in 2023 with 41 episodes broadcast originally on French channel France2.
Channel 4 bosses have dropped the full series of Patience online now for fans to binge before its next TV airing.
The third instalment will be screened next Wednesday at 9pm.
