We now have a definitive answer about if Cillian Murphy will appear in 28 Years Later, the sequel to his classic 2003 movie 28 Days Later.
The new movie stars the likes of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes and takes place 28 years after the original.
Fans have speculated that Cillian would be appearing in the movie, and some even thought that he made a cameo in the trailer. Producer Andrew Macdonald weighed in on the rumors and revealed exactly what role the Oscar-winning actor played in the movie.

Andrew told Empire that Cillian unfortunately did not appear in 28 Years Later. However, he very easily could return for a future movie.
Cillian was still involved in the new movie, even if he’s not in it.
“[On] this, we wanted him to be involved and he wanted to be involved. He is not in the first film, but I’m hoping there will be some Jim [his character] somewhere along the line,” Andrew told the publication, adding that the actor worked on the new movie as an executive producer.
Another movie in the franchise has already been filmed. A third movie is planned if this one hits!
