PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) -- The iconic Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree sourced from West Stockbridge, Massachusetts has found a new home. Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity (CBHFH) will have one last tree lighting before it serves a new purpose.
CBHFH CEO Carolyn Valli will light the tree at 5 a.m. on Saturday in New York City before the wood is milled into lumber and returned to Pittsfield. The wood will then play a role in the construction of 26 new Habitat homes.
The first use of the lumber will be to build a staircase for a family. From there, CBHFH aims to use the building of these homes to inspire the development of workforce and community collaboration.
