Ex-officer who stormed Capitol with Proud Boys on Jan. 6 sentenced to prison
A former police officer and Proud Boys member was sentenced on Wednesday to 14 months in prison for storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, after the 2020 presidential election.
U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly ordered Nathaniel Tuck of Apopka, Fla., to pay a $2,000 fine in addition to a $2,000 restitution fee for his involvement in the insurrection.
“Nathaniel Tuck was the sole member of the group who successfully pushed his way past a line of multiple Capitol Police officers, making physical contact with at least one officer as he did so,” prosecutors wrote.
“Nathaniel Tuck was one of the few rioters who successfully entered the building through the Senate Carriage Door when police were attempting to eject rioters out of the building through that door,” they added. "Nathaniel Tuck spent most of the next hour inside the Capitol building, where he berated officers, shouting at them and calling them ‘communists.’"
Afterward, he posed for a celebratory photo with other Proud Boys members, the court documents show.
Tuck pleaded guilty to a felony charge of obstructing law enforcement during a civil disorder and a misdemeanor charge of entering and remaining in a restricted area in September.
President-elect Trump has vowed to pardon those criminally charged for the riot upon his return to office. More than 1,500 have been indicted for Capitol related crimes.
Several rioters have petitioned to attend Trump’s second inauguration later this month.
