A new book written by Politico's Alex Isenstadt claims that President-elect Donald Trump gave serious consideration to making Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo his vice-presidential nominee.
As CNN reports, Isenstadt claims that Bartiromo was a "Trump favorite" at the network given her penchant for conducting "numerous softball interviews with him over the years."
According to Isenstadt, Trump "was dead serious about Bartiromo and was making the case for her" this past summer on the grounds that "she was great with the big-donor Wall Street types and she knew how to do TV."
However, Trump's team talked him out of picking the Fox Business anchor in part by informing him that "there was no time to vet Bartiromo, as they had spent months doing with the other candidates" that were on their VP shortlist.

Bartiromo became notorious after Trump's defeat in the 2020 presidential election for promoting false conspiracy theories about Dominion Voting Systems stealing the election for President Joe Biden that she learned about from a woman who also claimed that she could speak with the wind.
Those false claims promoted by Bartiromo would come back to bite Fox after Dominion filed a defamation lawsuit against the network that ended with it forking over a massive $787 million settlement.
