If you’re a frequent flyer at Costco’s bakery, then there’s a new item worth taking a trip for. They’re buttery, flaky, sugary almond croissant pastries, and mouths are already drooling just looking at them. However, these delightful little bites are causing quite a bit of controversy on Instagram despite looking so innocently delicious.
“NEW Almond Croissant Pastry at the Costco Bakery!” the creator behind the Costco Buys Instagram account wrote in a recent caption. “These delicious new treats are made with a butter croissant dough, sliced almonds, almond filling, and powdered sugar…they look phenomenal!”
They seriously do. You can tell just how flaky these pastries are, and each one is topped with a generous sprinkle of powdered sugar. Paired with a hot cup of coffee, they’d make a perfect breakfast (or dessert!).
“There’s something addictive in their almond pastries — so good!!” one commenter wrote on the Costco Buys post. Another person added, “Any almond pastry… I’M IN.”
There’s just one thing about these new pastries…they’re just under $12 for six. And to some Costco shoppers, that’s asking a lot.
On another post from What’s In Your Cart and Costco Deals, the comments section is even more ruthless. “$12? who do you think you are Costco?!” one person wrote. Another said, “Those are really good but that price was high.”
Though it seems like everything at the supermarket has spiked in price, the $11.99 tag on these croissants is a bit too much of an investment, and that’s totally fair. But if you can spend a few bucks to treat yourself, you may just have to take the plunge to see if these Almond Croissant Pastries are as delicious as they look — you deserve it!
