Jon Stewart says Vice President Harris overseeing President-elect Trump's electoral victory as a tally of states was read on the House floor on Monday had a funereal feeling to it.
Harris presided over a joint session of Congress as the election's certification was confirmed.
"The ultimate indignity of this Jan. 6 is that Donald Trump's opponent, Kamala Harris, because she is the vice president, serves as the master of ceremonies," said Stewart as he hosted "The Daily Show" on Comedy Central Monday evening.
"Poor baby," Stewart whispered.
"But it does suck," the comedian added, before playing a clip of Republicans in the chamber cheering when Harris announced that Trump's election win had been certified.
"That's got to sting," Stewart said.
"It's like attending your own funeral. And even the mourners are like, 'Woohoo!'" Stewart exclaimed.
"I can't imagine anything that would be more uncomfortable standing there while the crowd applauds your opponent," he said.
Stewart also took a swipe at the president-elect and Republicans, referencing the events of Jan. 6, 2021, when rioters stormed the Capitol in an attempt to half the certification of President Biden's win over Trump, who had repeatedly spread false claims of widespread voter fraud.
"Ultimately, the certification ceremony that we all look forward to every four years since I was little went off without a hitch," Stewart said of Monday's proceedings, "because it's amazing how smoothly our democracy can work when you don't act like a little bitch when you lose."
