The community surrounding RuPaul’s Drag Race, including those in the U.K. and the U.S., is paying tribute to The Vivienne. The Drag Race U.K. winner and Drag Race All-Stars contestant’s death was confirmed January 5 by a publicist. Michelle Visage and queens from both seasons in which The Vivienne competed are all sharing tributes in their honor. “Their family are heartbroken at the loss of their son, brother and uncle,” PR person Simon Jones wrote in the original statement. “They are so proud of the wonderful things James achieved in their life and career.” The official RuPaul’s Drag Race page also put out a statement, reading, “We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of The Vivienne. Her talent, humor, and dedication to the art of drag was an inspiration. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy will live on as a beacon of creativity and authenticity — she embodied what it means to be a true champion.” Below, tributes to The Vivienne.
I don’t entirely have words… She has made her mark in our hearts and on her stages. It’s too soon for a curtain call but I know it’s a standing ovation. I love you Viv. ???? pic.twitter.com/S06eiNo6Iv
