Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly battling three of their Premier League rivals in the race to sign one of their top centre-back targets.
Ange Postecoglou‘s men are expected to reinforce their central defence in January and AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori is thought to be one of the names on the club’s shortlist.
The centre-back has struggled for game time at the San Siro this season, and various outlets have suggested that the Lilywhites are prepared to offer the Englishman a route back to the Premier League.
With the Chelsea academy graduate being comfortable on both sides of central defence and having pace to burn, one can understand why the North London club see him as a good fit for their system.
An update from talkSPORT has now confirmed that Tottenham are indeed keen on bringing Tomori back to London, but the report suggests that the club will have to see off competition from three other Premier League sides.
One of those is Newcastle, who could turn their attention to the Milan man after being frustrated in their attempt to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.
The publication adds that West Ham and Brentford are also in the market for a centre-back and ready to make a move for the England international this month.
Many journalists have pointed out of late that Tomori is not guaranteed to be on the shop window this month despite hardly being used by Milan over recent months.
This is because the Rossoneri have recently made a managerial change, with Sergio Conceicao replacing Paulo Fonseca at the helm.
There is a possibility that Tomori could regain prominence under Conceicao, which is why Spurs and other suitors will be keeping an eye on the situation with interest.
