He swiped in a downward motion as the other man, also wielding a massive machete, stepped back.
About ten other men all clad in back were then involved in a running battle up the street.
A white Ford Fiesta can be seen slowly driving by in one direction.
Another car and a grey VW Golf then passed going the opposite way.
The first man is then seen backing away still brandishing the large weapon.
A shocked member of the public filmed the 20-second video on their mobile phone.
The Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “We are aware of this video circulating online and are making enquiries.
“There are no known reports or injuries.

It comes after two men had a chilling machete fight in the middle of the High Street, in East Ham, east London in October.
The warring pair – both clad all in black – jostled in the road forcing traffic to come to a halt.
A shocked onlooker on a bus filmed the armed Medieval-style battle on their mobile phone.
The duo were both armed with huge blades and one swung it at his rival before he backed off.
One of the weapons was nearly two feet long, the other about one foot.
One witness said: “Don’t do it, please.”
Another added: “Stop.”
Thankfully, neither of them landed a blow and the 14-second harrowing video came to an end.
