She explained that she attended her mum and dad’s nuptials “a few weeks ago.”
“At the reception, everyone was so drunk and my dad’s best friend, who was his best man and also good friends with me already, started talking to me,” she said.
The young woman revealed that she spoke with the older man for “about half an hour.”
She shared that they were “getting along really well” during their conversation.
“He asked if I wanted to come back to his room,” the original poster recalled.
“I’ve never really been allowed to go round to boy’s houses or anything since my mum is really strict.”
Despite this, the young woman accepted the invitation to the hotel room.
“I said: ‘Yes’ and we ended up having sex in his hotel room,” she explained.
The Redditor revealed that they “haven’t really spoken to each other” since.
However, a shocking development meant she was going to have to reach out.
Not only that, but it was more than likely she would also have to tell her parents.
“I found out today that I’m pregnant and it can only be his since he’s the only person I’ve ever had sex with,” she said.
“So now I’m 16 and pregnant with my dad’s 42-year-old best friend’s baby.”
Reddit users shared their thoughts on the situation in the comments section.
The legal age of consent in the UK is 16 years old. However, there are some exceptions to this rule:
“You need to talk it out, look for a young people’s helpline and they can help you figure out your options,” advised one reader.
“It might be best to talk to your parents about this,” suggested another Redditor.
“If you want to keep this pregnancy then it would be best to look for support where you can find it and your parents would be a good start.”
“He is a terrible person and you need to stay away from him,” commented a third person.
“You don’t need to tell him anything. Good luck and try to talk to a trusted adult. Go to the doctor and at least discuss your options ASAP.”
