If you grew up in the early 2000s, there’s a good chance you probably used a Bumpit to add an instant poof to your Jersey Shore-inspired hair. Well, at the 2025 Golden Globes, Bumpit-style looks made some hair-raising statements on this year’s red carpet.
On Sunday night, the stars arrived on the Golden Globes red carpet with big dresses, but some with even bigger hair. Nicole Kidman, everyone’s favorite Babygirl, made an entrance in a glittering custom Balenciaga gown topped off with a voluminous Bumpit-simulating ponytail. You know what they say: the higher the hair, the closer to God (or Harris Dickinson.)
Matlock star Kathy Bates sported an ultra-puffed waved pony with her blazer and trousers ensemble that she also styled with sneaks. While both Globe nominees Angelia Jolie and Margaret Qualley sported flowing manes with pushed-up poofs. But unlike the other Bumpit-inspired dos, Qualley adorned her taller hair top with an embellished headband. Even Miley Cyrus appeared to have some volume enhancement in her messy rock n’ roll up-do.
But not everyone was into the “tall-hair- don’t-care” look. Emma Stone, on the opposite side of the Bumpit spectrum, arrived on the Globes carpet with a copper pixie cut. Giving us full Twiggy, Stone helped us remember that volume isn’t everything and you don’t always need big hair to make a big statement.
