Viola Davis was a guest of honor while attending the Golden Gala: An Evening of Excellence ahead of the 82nd Annual Golden Globes on Friday night (January 3) at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The 59-year-old actress was joined at the event by her husband Julius Tennon and her daughter Genesis, 14.
During it, she was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, marking the first time that the award was handed out since Eddie Murphy received it in 2022.

According to the Golden Globes website, the award recognizes “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.” It was named after the famed director and has been awarded to the likes of Walt Disney and Barbra Streisand.
Viola received her award from Meryl Streep, a full-circle moment as Viola awarded Meryl the same honor in 2017.
For the occasion, she looked marvelous in a pink dress with dramatic sleeves. Genesis popped alongside her in red while Julius opted for a black suit.
