“They’ve given me the resilience and they’ve given me the love and they’ve given me the strength to keep moving forward,” she added.
Nicole‘s mom Janelle passed away this past September shortly after the actress arrived at the 2024 Venice Film Festival where she was set to receive an award. Her father Anthony died in 2014.
In her acceptance speech, Nicole looked back at the moment she learned of her mother’s passing.
“I arrived in Venice and she was gone,” Nicole recalled. “I got the call. I said to Halina (Reijn, the Babygirl director), ‘Can you go on stage for me?’”
“Now I’m on stage, and I’m back here. Thank you for giving me the chance to say this is for my mom,” Nicole continued. “My whole career has been for my mom and my dad and they’re not here anymore. I want to keep working and giving to the world.
“I’m sorry I’m crying,” Nicole concluded. “I didn’t want to do that but I feel my mama right now. This is for you, mama.”
In a recent interview, Nicole revealed her mom’s profound final words to her.
