Alasdair Gold has revealed that the latest injury development at Hotspur Way has necessitated a new addition in one position for Tottenham this month.
Unfortunately for Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham’s injury situation does not appear to be getting any better. Just when it seems like there could be some light at the end of the tunnel, the club keep getting hit with new injury blows.
The latest to join the treatment table was Destiny Udogie, who had to be withdrawn at the start of the second half against Wolves on Sunday after going down with a hamstring problem.
It emerged on Wednesday that the defender’s injury is a serious one and that he could be facing around six to 10 weeks on the sidelines.
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has now confirmed the same regarding the Italy international’s injury, revealing that he will not return to action until the end of February at the earliest.
He asserts that as a result, Spurs will be forced to enter the market to sign a new left-back this month, revealing that it is something that the club had already considered last summer.
Gold explains that even though Sergio Reguilon has been used over recent weeks, the Spaniard is not part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans going forward, thus making a new left-back a priority for the club.
The Football.London journalist points out that one of the players heavily linked with a move to Tottenham is Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu, who has similar attributes to Udogie.
However, he also adds that the Lilywhites could go down the route of signing a versatile defender who can play at centre-back and left-back.
With Tottenham also needing additional cover in central defence, Gold suggests that such a signing could kill two birds with one stone.
