ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- Almost one week after 24-year-old Kendrick Lewis was killed, Stacy Lewis says her other son, 22-year-old Freddie Lewis, was shot. The mother said she wants answers.
"Dealing with Kendrick, one of the worst pain I could ever feel, and to fast forward to my son Freddie -- it's the topping on the cake. It's the final piece," Stacy said.
Kendrick was fatally shot Sunday night on Honey Lane near Opelousas. Just five days later, Freddie was injured in a shooting on Joseph Street in Opelousas.
Joseph Thomas was arrested in connection with the shooting on Joseph Street. Thomas faces charges of second-degree murder, three counts of attempted second-degree murder, and illegal use of weapons and dangerous instrumentalities.
Stacy urges people to put their guns down.
"I'm the one who gotta come up with 10- and 15,000, not y'all. Stop the violence, put down the guns. Y'all know who shot my son Freddie. Report it," she said.
The aunt of Kendrick and Freddie, who asked to remain anonymous, said she and the family want all the suspects involved in both shootings to be held accountable.
"I hope and pray the parents of these kids, turn your kids in, make them be responsible. You be responsible adults to turn your kids in and teach them the lesson that the street they live by, that's how they die by," Stacy said.
A GoFundMe has been set up by the family to pay for funeral expenses for Kendrick.
