WILSON, La. (KLFY) – A Morgan City man was killed Thursday evening when he was hit by a car while walking in East Feliciana Parish, authorities said.
The crash claimed the life of Herman Kilbourne III, 50, of Morgan City.
Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single-vehicle crash just before 6:30 p.m. Thursday involving a pedestrian on Main Street (La. 19), north of Carruth Road in Wilson.
Investigators said Kilbourne was walking northbound on Main Street when a 2016 Infiniti Q60 was traveling southbound. For reasons still under investigation, the Infiniti struck Kilbourne in the northbound lane.
Kilbourne was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Infiniti was uninjured.
This crash remains under investigation, authorities said.
State Police urges pedestrians and motorists to remain vigilant while on roadways and pay close attention to their surroundings. Pedestrians must assume that approaching motorists cannot see them, especially at night. Pedestrians should cross roadways in well-lit, designated areas and always walk facing traffic.
